This show featured two guests from National Resources Defense Council who described the problems associated with widespread overuse of low-level antibiotics in livestock and poultry. First on was Dr. Carmen Cordova who serves as the NRDC’s Sustainable Livestock Science Fellow. Then, Peter welcomed Jonathan Kaplan, Director of the Food And Agricultural Program at the Council. It is firmly established that misuse of antibiotics in agricultural animals is related to the development of drug resistant organisms that can sicken us, but is our nation doing enough to lessen the risks? It should go without saying that Animals Today does not endorse or promote factory farming or consumption of any animal. However, we feel it is important to expose the risks these practices pose to everyone’s health.
Then, we changed the pace a bit, with Veterinarian Dr. Srinivas Lingareddy covering the latest facts about an often deadly disease in dogs, Parvo. Learn how to protect your dog from this killer.
Plus, October in Pit bull Awareness Month, and other hot animal news with Peter.
