The show begins with a variety of recent animal news stories including an alligator on a beer run, stealing a shark from the San Antonio Aquarium, and a near-fatal bite from a pet cobra.
Peter then welcomes Pat Craig, Executive Director of The Wild Animal Sanctuary, located in Colorado. There is a captive wildlife crisis as many large carnivores such as tigers continue to be privately bred. Inevitably, they become unsafe for their owners to maintain and must be moved to more appropriate facilities. The Wild Animal Sanctuary got its start 38 years ago to rescue unwanted healthy zoo animals, who otherwise were being killed.
The show concludes with Dr. Robert Reed, Medical Director of VCA Rancho Mirage Animal Hospital, who speaks with Lori about toxoplasmosis in cats and risks to people. Cats are the only definitive host of toxo.
