This show begins with Peter and Animals Today legal expert, Bob Ferber, discussing Ag-gag laws. These laws are anti-whistleblower laws designed to shield factory farms from the inquisitive lenses of undercover videographers demonstrating animal cruelty. The Idaho law was just struck down as unconstitutional, but according to Ferber, don’t expect these laws in other states to simply go away. Moreover, anti-whistleblower laws can have many far-reaching and negative impacts throughout society.
Then, Lori welcomes Veterinary neurologist Stephen Hanson who explains seizure disorders in companion animals, especially dogs.
Following that, we discuss our close encounters with scorpions, and then speak with Conservationist Matt Ellerbeck, to learn more about these arachnids.
The show concludes with wildlife biologist Calvin Duncan, with the Catalina Island Conservancy, to discuss bats on the island. Many of these bats inhabit caves and abandoned mines.
