April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, so on today’s show we featured discussions about the cruelty involved in dogfighting and the connection between interpersonal violence and animal cruelty.
First, Lori gave her perspectives on the cruelty involved in organized dogfighting and Michael Vick’s activities in particular, with commentary from around the time his dogfighting activities were discovered. Do you agree with Lori’s assessment that Vick was and is a psychopath, and that both the HSUS and the NFL should not have given him second chances to rehabilitate his reputation?
Then, Lori had a lengthy discussion with Dr. Randall Lockwood, Senior Vice President for Forensic Sciences and Anti-Cruelty Projects at the ASPCA. Lockwood offered his views on Vick’s motivations and acts, as well as various aspects of animal cruelty, and its relationship to interpersonal violence and other antisocial behaviors.
