On this show, Lori first welcomed Maryland State Senator Brian Frosh and Stacey Coleman, Executive Director, Animal Farm Foundation to discuss a newly passed law that addresses discrimination against pit bulls, their owners and their landlords. Under the new law, owners now are uniformly liable if their dog injures someone, regardless of the breed of their dog. Lori and Stacey also discussed breed specific legislation issues around the country, including the laws in Miami, Denver and San Francisco.
Then, Andrew Hughan, Public Information Officer, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, appeared to analyze the recent bear attack of a woman in Florida. Andrew and Lori discussed whether this attack could have been avoided, and how we should manage close encounters with bears.
We also chatted about ivory trade arrests, petitions for Orca liberation, and bears. Do you know how many species of bear there are?
