This show begins with an in depth discussion with Paul Watson, founder of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. This amazing organization continues to grow and leads efforts around the world to protect the seas and its inhabitants. Lori and Paul discuss the smallest cetacean, the vaquita, legal and direct action to protect whales, and a host of other topics.
Then, attorney Lora Dunn joins Lori to discuss this year’s Animals Legal Defense Fund report on the strengths and weaknesses of animal protection laws among the 50 states. It is the 10th consecutive year the report, and the states with the highest rankings are Illinois, Oregon, Maine, California and Michigan. Listen in to learn what these rankings mean as well as which states are the worst. Then, Peter and Lori discuss ways to protect our companion animals from the hazards posed by wild animals.
To conclude the hour Peter welcomes Matt Bergles, PhD., to chat about his delightful and meaningful children’s book, Larry saves the Prairie.
