This show begins with Lori recognizing the Fifth Annual World Pangolin Day by broadcasting her 2015 interview with Jeffrey Flocken of International Fund for Animal Welfare. The cute but vulnerable pangolin holds the unfortunate distinction of being the most heavily trafficked wild mammal in the world.
Next up, Lori describes the ongoing exploitation of animals at the Riverside California County Fair and Date Festival, and how concerned citizens can help appeal to the Fair Board to end their practice of abusing wild and exotic animals. Following this we listen to a very cute PSA on cat rescue, produced Maddie’s Fund, HSUS, and the Ad Council. Bob Ferber then joins peter to discuss shark fin legal battles.
The show continues when Dr. Michael Greger joins Lori to discuss how diet can prevent heart disease and stroke. His new book is titled, How Not To Die.
We conclude with an inspiring talk with Lori Rich, Founder and President of Taking it to the Streets with Lori and Shira. This novel organization provides food and supplies for dogs and cats living on the streets, as well as aiding their homeless human guardians. They also provide spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations, micro chipping and licensing for these street animals.
