Another season of seal killing in Canada is here.
Each spring, tens of thousands of baby seals in Canada are brutally killed for their pelts. Even though dozens of countries, including Russia and the members of the EU have banned the sale of seal products, and despite strong worldwide condemnation of the seal hunts, the practice continues year after year.
The main reason it lives on is because the Canadian government supports it, as Lori explains in this opening segment. Public opinion and momentum are on the side of compassionate people and seal lovers worldwide, so listen in to learn what you can do to help end this abhorrent practice.
You can invest in the booming pet products industry.
Peter then welcomes Simeon Hyman from ProShares, a company that offers exchange traded funds in various areas.
A recently offered fund, the Pet Care ETF (PAWZ), focuses on pet products and services, a rapidly growing sector. Simeon has his finger on the pulse of this vibrant industry and shares some interesting facts and insights.
How do I take my dog to the dog park safely?
Then, Lori welcomes Los Angeles based attorney Ken Phillips, to speak about the risks related to dog parks. Dog parks can be wonderful places, but the risks and hazards to people and dogs in and around the parks are real. Ken shares his decades of expertise to increase our knowledge and awareness about what can go wrong at dog parks, so everyone can have fun and stay safe.
What all dog parks have in common is the reason for their existence. Dogs (and their owners) need a place where they can run free, sans leashes, and do “doggie” things. Many of their owners have no yards and the dogs would otherwise spend their entire outdoor lives on leash.
Donna Joynson says
I want the government to stop seal killing. You are encouraging hunters, poachers, bad breeders and trophy hunters by making animal kills to be legal.
It should not be legal and the killers should be in jail. Have a heart.
